Mary Kennedy accepts a 2007 Gen. Douglas MacArthur Leadership Award on behalf of her son from the Chief of Staff of the Army Gen. George Casey, May 14, at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. Mary's son, Capt. Edward Kennedy, commander, Company B, 1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Multi-National Division, Baghdad, was unable to accept the award himself due to his deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Based on his effective military leadership as a junior officer, Kennedy, a native of Danbury, Conn., was one of 28 Soldiers chosen as an award recipient. (Photo/Don Kennedy)
