Marines from the 3rd Law Enforcement Battalion learn the importance of footwork while having a stick swung at their head for motivation. This is part of the Pekiti Tirsia Kali training they are receiving from the Philippine Marines. In return the Philippine Marines are trained in the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program (MCMAP). The hand-to-hand combat training is just one part of Exercise Balikatan 2013. The bilateral training received at this exercise will enhance inter-operability between the AFP and US allowing the two countries to work together efficiently to provide relief and assistance in the event of natural disasters and other crises that threaten public health and safety.
