Staff Sgt. Carlito Englatiera from Philippine Marine Battalion Landing Team 5, demonstrates the effectiveness of the blade and its usefulness in the age of technology. The blade he is holding is called a Ginunting from the Filipino word meaning scissors. It is carried by many of the Filipino Recon Marines. The hand-to-hand training is part Exercise Balikatan 2013 designed to strengthen the AFP and U.S. militaries' longstanding relationship that has contributed to the region's security and stability, and is deeply rooted in cooperation.
