Baghdad, IRAQ-- Maj. Hugh McGloin, executive commanding officer, 2nd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, approaches a car parked on the side of Route Pluto in northeastern Baghdad August 5, as the owners open the trunk in preparation for it to be searched. McGloin was out in the city coordinating all of 2-8s companies who were out in-force after a heavy spate of improvised explosive device, rocket-propelled grenade, and small arms attacks on U.S. personnel gave cause for all of the battalions companies to be out on patrol that day. The attacks were presumably in retaliation for the capture of radical Shia cleric Muqtada al-Sadr earlier that day.
