Congratulations to Spc. Alvin Long of Wimberley, Texas, who won the 36th Combat Aviation Brigade's Soldier of the Year Competition. A trophy was presented to him May 3 by Lt. Col. Scott Kingsley, the brigade's executive officer. Spc. Long is in the operations section of HHC, 36th CAB and is currently deployed to Camp Buehring in Kuwait. The competition included land navigation, a physical fitness test, M4 marksmanship, medical skills, and appearing in front of a board of senior noncommissioned officers. The next level of competition is at Army Central Command where he’ll be up against soldiers from seven other active duty and reserve brigades across the Middle East.
