Petty Officer 3rd Class Monique Lewis, ship's serviceman attached to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 17 provides a field haircut to Petty Officer 1st Class Scott Allen, equipment operator. Lewis also the battalion barber travels to remote locations to help assure the Seabees maintain proper military bearing. Seabees from NMCB 17 and the Army 814th Multi-Roll Bridge Company are working together on a large scale bridge building project located in Western Iraq. Seabees attached to NMCB 17 are taking the lead effort in moving an estimated 70 thousand cubic yards of earth to aid in completion of the 300 meter Maybey-Johnson Float Bridge that will span across the Euphrates River. When complete the project will help increase local commerce, trade, and travel for the Iraqi population in the area.
