Sailors fight a simulated fire in Hangar Bay 3 during a general quarters drill aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74). GQ drills are conducted to train Sailors how to fight fires, flooding and other damage to the ship. Stennis and Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 9 are conducting tailored ship's training availability (TSTA) off the coast of Southern California. TSTA is a three-phase evolution that incrementally enhances the ship's operating proficiency while simultaneously integrating the air wing.
