Following their change of stole ceremony, July 8, Chaplain (Lt. Col.) Darryl Hollowell, of Cleveland, Ohio (left), outgoing 7th Infantry Division chaplain, and incoming 7th Infantry Division chaplain, Chaplain (Lt. Col.) Paul Jaedicke, of Stanford, Calif., pose for a picture at the Lewis North Chapel, Joint Base Lewis-McChord. The stole ceremony is among the oldest known rituals. Clergy wear stoles as symbols of their spiritual leadership responsibility. The stole reminds us of a chaplain’s role as a spiritual-leader, servant-leader and as God’s representative among the people.
