This leather fire bucket from the ship USS Cumberland, which was sunk by the Confederate ironclade Virginia the day before the historic battle between the CSS Virginia (also known as the Merrimac) and the USS Monitor, is among the items included in the New Civil War exhibit "Empire for Union" at the New York State Military Museum, which opened July 27.
