An Ohio Army National Guard UH 60 Blackhawk helicopter hovers above the 17th Street Canal in New Orleans hauling a load of sandbags. The Blackhawk crew was working to seal the breach in the levee separating the canal from adjoining neighborhoods in the Crescent City. The wall, damaged by Hurricane Katrina, broke causing the canal waters to flood parts of the area surrounding the city. The helicopter, part of Joint Task Force Buckeye, Ohio's military response to aid the residents of the storm battered gulf coast, is assigned to the 1-137th Assault Helicopter Battalion, based at Rickenbacker Air National Guard Base, Columbus, Ohio. hkat
