    USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER, Arabian Gulf – Capt. Scott Stearney, commander, Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 7, relieved Cmdr. Christopher Rankin, commanding officer, Electronic Attack Squadron (VAQ) 140, of command due to a loss of confidence in his ability to command, April 16 aboard USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69).

    Cmdr. Timothy Murphy, the squadron's executive officer, is currently serving as the acting commanding officer. Rankin has been temporarily assigned to commander, Carrier Strike Group 8 pending further review of the matter.

    VAQ 140, assigned to CVW 7, is currently embarked aboard Eisenhower and deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility in support of Operations Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom and Maritime Security Operations. VAQ 140 is based out of Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, Wash.
