FORT LEE, Va. – A detachment of soldiers from the Army’s 111th Quartermaster Company returned home to family and friends at Fort Lee, Va., during a ceremony Jan. 18, 2013, after six months in Kuwait and Afghanistan supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
The detachment deployed with 44 soldiers and all returned home safely. Five soldiers returned in advance of the 39 who were welcomed home during the ceremony.
As part of the 530th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, the 111th Quartermaster Company is one of the Army’s only two active duty mortuary affairs units, which are both based here.
