WARRIOR BASE, South Korea - Spc. Bradley L. Simmons, a signal support specialist with the Eighth Army, lives for three things, rap music, role playing games and his family. Simmons is an aspiring rapper who loves to create his own music.
Being stationed at Camp Coiner in Korea has put a hold on his music career, but Simmons has found ways to satisfy his need for good music.
“I don’t really like the party scene,” Simmons said. “But since I don’t have any of my equipment here in country, it’s the next best thing.”
Despite enjoying mainstream rap music, Simmons also has a soft spot for role playing games commonly considered “nerdy.”
“I’m a nerd at heart,” Simmons said. “I like to play computer games and read a lot to help expand my mind, but people don’t know that about me.”
Simmons, a native of Charleston, S.C., has a 3-year-old daughter with another on the way. Working for the Army has provided a way to help support his family, but being away from family takes its toll.
“It is a bittersweet thing, serving in the Army,” Simmons said. “I wish I was with my family, but time here in Korea has gone by quickly and I will get to see my family again soon when I head back for the birth of my daughter.”
