OSAN AIR BASE, Republic of Korea - The Combined Air Logistics Center at Osan Air Base provides logistics support during contingency operations.

"The [CALC] manages the [distribution] of the Air Component Commands resources," said Capt. Sarah Thompson, 7th Air Force officer in charge of plans and resources. "We have an essential role here in Key Resolve because we are helping enable the command to successfully execute the air campaign through logistics planning, coordination and execution command and control."

Thompson explained that the logistics center provides a single source of combined information with logistics resources to support planned combat operations and any resource shortfalls.

"My boss used to say that his job isn't important, it's essential," Thompson said. "Logistics is the same way, without logistics we don't have a flying mission."

Exercises like Key Resolve are carried out in the spirit of the 1953 Republic of Korea-U.S. Mutual Defense Treaty and they highlight the longstanding partnership and enduring friendship between the United Nations Command sending state nations while reaffirming the U.S. commitment to the region.

"I'm having an awesome time here working with our Republic of Korea partners," Thompson said. "They're extremely respectful, and happy to have us here. Also, we've been having a great time training with them."

Thompson also stressed the importance of training with our ROK counterparts.

"[When we train] with them in exercises, as well as our day to day operations, we're prepared," Thompson said. "We have cohesion, camaraderie, we've identified things that we need to work on for improvement and if there is any type of contingency, we're more prepared to go ahead and execute the mission."
