SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. – This week’s Third Army/ARCENT Soldier of the Week is Spc. Isis S. Smith, Third Army/ARCENT intelligence analyst.
Smith, who was born in Chapel Hill, N.C., spent the majority of her life in Prince George’s County, Md., and joined Third Army/ARCENT directly following her advance individual training at Fort Huachuca, Ariz.
“I joined the Army because I wanted a job that served a greater purpose than just myself,” said Smith, “and I aspire to follow in my dad’s footsteps.” Her father served in the Air Force for 28 years, and studied counterterrorism within the cyber intelligence spectrum.
Q: What is your favorite movie genre?
A: I love comedy movies.
Q: What is your favorite food?
A: All FOOD. I do love seafood, but I am really just a big fan of eating in general.
Q: What are your goals?
A: I hope to pursue Air Assault School in the near future, a promotion is always something to strive for, and I am extremely excited to start my Master’s degree classes before the year is up.
Q: What are you most proud of?
A: I am most proud of my decision to join the Army. I always go home and see some of my old friends with the same bad habits I used to have, and getting nowhere in life. I’m happy that I’ve set goals, met them and set more. I haven’t been in the Army that long, but I know that there are much worse things I would’ve probably been doing right now had I not taken the oath to serve.
Q: What are your hobbies?
A: I like to cook, volunteer with youth, play basketball, travel and go see live acoustic bands.
Q: If you could spend one hour with anyone, who would it be and why?
A: It would definitely be President Obama for sure. I’d love to pick his brain on some of the people and moments of his younger years that inspired him along the way.
