URUZGAN PROVINCE, Afghanistan – The 8th Special Operations Kandak (SOK) commandos captured a suspected improvised explosive device (IED) facilitator in Deh Rawud district, Uruzgan province, April 2.
The commandos, working closely with the Afghan Local Police commander and district chief of police, planned and led the operation.
The commandos captured the suspected IED facilitator accused of orchestrating attacks, producing and emplacing IEDs, and facilitating other lethal aid to insurgents.
“This successful operation was a great follow-up to the 8th SOK’s targeted operation just a few days earlier,” said a Coalition Force adviser to the commandos.
The removal of the facilitator degrades insurgent command structure in Deh Rawud.
“I am proud that we have captured another enemy of Afghanistan that will further protect the lives of our people,” said an 8th SOK commando.
