    FORT HOOD, Texas - Fort Hood officials have released the name of a soldier who died of injuries as a result of an apparent gunshot wound April 11 at an off-post residence in Killeen, Texas.

    Sgt. Clayton Michael Willey, 24, whose home of record is listed as Joppa, Md., entered the military in March 2006 as a military police officer in the Army Reserve. He entered the active Army in October 2010 as a multichannel transmission systems operator-maintainer and arrived at Fort Hood in February 2011. He was assigned to Company B, 57th Signal Battalion, 11th Signal Brigade, Fort Hood, since April 2011.

    Willey deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from February 2008 to April 2009.

    Willey’s awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with M Device, and Driver and Mechanic Badge with Driver Wheeled Vehicle Bar.

    Circumstances surrounding this incident are currently under investigation.
