SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. – This week’s Third Army/ARCENT soldier of the week is Master Sgt. Spencer A. Foster, Third Army/ARCENT material readiness branch, aviation maintenance noncommissioned officer in charge. Foster joined Third Army/ARCENT after serving at eight previous duty stations, most recently at Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah, Ga. Foster has spent 22 years serving his country, and has deployed twice to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Although his military career is demanding, the father of four sets aside time each week to mentor Cedric Wright, a second grader at R.E. Davis Elementary School in Sumter, S.C. He said he’s proud to be a mentor and that it’s a part of his nature to help those in need.
“Some people call it the golden rule but I follow the scripture of do onto others as you would have them do onto you,” said Foster. “That is what I live my life by.”
