ST. PAUL, Minn.- Senior Master Sgt. Mike Tracy, a load master with the 109th Airlift Squadron here, helped rescue a young girl from a burning building while on duty as a Minneapolis firefighter, May 10, 2013.

Tracy and his Captain Mike Hess from Station Four rushed into the burning duplex to locate a missing 6-year-old girl. His captain found the unconscious girl and was trying to find his way out when he bumped into Tracy. Tracy then led Hess and girl safely down the steps and out of the building to the awaiting paramedics.

“I enjoy my job and it’s very rewarding,” said Tracy. “She was the first live body I’ve pulled out in 14 years.”

The girl was released from the hospital a couple of days ago and is doing well back home with her family.

“I am not a glory hound, I am just doing my job,” he stated. “I truly do have two of the best jobs in the world.”
