FORT POLK, La. - The Military and Family Life Counseling (MFLC) program provides non-medical counseling services that are situational, problem-solving, and short term. MFLC support addresses issues that occur within the military lifestyle for couples, families, and single soldiers. These issues can include relationship challenges; stress associated with day-to-day living; and pre-deployment and deployment-related issues. MFLC is one of many organizations that will be at the 4th Brigade, 10 Mountain Division’s Deployment Fair on May 21 at the ACS Building, Building 920, from 9a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

MFLC services are non-traditional in that encounters are anonymous. No records are kept by a MFLC so information discussed does not end up in a permanent file. With the exception of a duty to warn obligation regarding self-harm, harm to others, domestic violence, child abuse or neglect, or present or future illegal, it’s private and confidential.

“As an asset for the brigade, we encourage service members and families to be proactive in using the MFLC program. Short-term, problem solving counseling can be provided for up to 12 sessions free to service members and their families. This includes single soldiers,” said Cathy Parker, Ph. D., Military and Family Life Counselor, 4th Brigade 10th Mountain Division.

Come to the Deployment Fair on Tuesday to speak with a representative from the Financial Readiness Program and lean how this program and many others can help support our families.
