FORT LEE, Va. - Richard McCaffery and Sheila Thompson-White were honored by Fred Kuhm, Defense Contract Management Agency International acting commander, for their 36 years of service to DCMA in a retirement ceremony May 2.

McCaffery, a quality assurance specialist, has devoted 22 years of his career to DCMA, with the last seven years in the International directorate providing staff assistance to Contract Management Offices and participating in numerous agency integrated process teams. McCaffery is also a four-year Air Force veteran.

During the retirement ceremony, Kuhm presented McCaffery with a Civilian Career Service Award and other accolades, saying to McCaffery, “We will miss your expertise and invaluable service to your country.”

McCaffery said his plans for the future included “looking forward to lots of challenges and good times” in his retirement and an “opportunity to travel with my wife.”

Thompson-White, a contracting specialist, dedicated 32 years of her total government service to DCMA. Additionally, she fulfilled a 26-year commitment with the Army Reserves.

Since joining the International directorate four years ago, she has made significant contributions to the Financial Improvement Audit Readiness team and the agency’s Combating Trafficking in Persons team.

Included in the awards presented Thompson-White for her service were the Civilian Career Service Award and a letter from the DCMA director and his agency coin for excellence. During the presentation, Kuhm expressed his appreciation to Thompson-White. “You were a great addition to the International staff, and we appreciate all the contributions you made during your time with us.”

Thompson-White said that in retirement, “I plan to start my new life, and spend time with my two beautiful children."
