TARIN KOT, Afghanistan - Sgt. Sydney Hays, an intelligence analyst with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, is currently serving with Combined Team Uruzgan at Multinational Base - Tarin Kot, Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
Hays, a native of New Richmond, Wis., and a 2006 graduate of New Richmond High School, arrived in theater in November 2012. Hays has served in the military for three years and this is her first deployment.
Many soldiers have been away from their families for important holidays, and with Father’s Day approaching, Hays had a few words for her father, Wayne Hays.
“I would like to tell my Dad Happy Father’s Day!” Hays said. “Without your encouragement and support, I wouldn't be where I am today. Thank you for everything. I hope you have a fantastic Father's Day and let the kids work for you for once! I love and miss you, and will see you soon! Don't forget to get out your fishing poles!”
Hays is scheduled to return to Fort Stewart, Ga., in the next few months.
