FORT BELVOIR, Va. - Two hundred and thirty-eight years ago, the U.S. Army was established to defend our nation. To commemorate this important and historic event, DTRA/SCC-WMD held a ceremony at the Andrew T. Event hosts DTRA/SCC-WMD Executive Director Ms. Shari Durand and Army Maj. Gen. Kenneth S. Dowd of DLA J3 presided over the ceremony, while former DTRA Deputy Director Maj. Gen. Randy Manner, U.S. Army retired, served as guest speaker.
“Today is an opportunity for me to talk about the people who really make up the U.S. Army,” said Manner. “It’s a community of soldiers, civilians, spouses and children, brought together by a common commitment to serve our nation … It’s a community of people with the experience, resilience, trust and respect to make a real difference.”
