CHEYENNE, Wyo. - Lt. Col. Blair Kaiser assumed command of the 30th Airlift Squadron in a ceremony June 1, at the F.E. Warren Air Force Base theater.

The 30th Airlift Squadron is the Air Force's first-ever active duty combat airlift associate unit, integrating all operations, maintenance and support functions with the Wyoming Air National Guard's 153rd Airlift Wing. As the 30th Airlift Squadron commander, Kaiser will serve as the commander in charge of a 200-person squadron tasked with providing worldwide C-130 combat aerial delivery, maintenance and support.

Kaiser takes command from Lt. Col. Rodney Simpson. Simpson will transition to Ramstein Air Base, Germany, to be the United States Air Forces Europe deputy chief of training, standardization and evaluation and tactics.

"I am honored to become the fifth commander of the 30th Airlift Squadron since our 2006 reactivation here in Cheyenne and I look forward to building on the tremendous work of my four predecessors. Total Force Integration works because of the strong professional relationships and teamwork forged between the citizen airmen of the 153rd Airlift Wing and my 200 airmen who are embedded across every group of the Wyoming Air National Guard," said Kaiser.

Kaiser previously served as the director of operations of the 30th Airlift Squadron. He is a command pilot and has served in the Air Force for 17 years in various positions at the squadron, group, wing and headquarters Air Force level.
