    U.S. Army Reserve Command

FORT MCCOY, Wis. – Spc. Justin Trusso, carpentry/masonry specialist, 9th Mission Support Command, a native of Yona, Guam, comes to the mainland to participate in the 2013 Army Reserve Best Warrior Competition, Fort McCoy, Wis., being held June 23 – 28.

Trusso is one of two members of the competition that is from the U.S. territories. He enlisted into the Army Reserve with his good friend from school. And now, almost five years later, he is working on becoming an officer when he completes college degree.

“My dad actually drove me down to the recruiter station and told me to just go in there and see what they have to say, so I just went in and went with it and here I am now,” said Trusso.

Trusso is using the benefits the Army Reserve offers to attend the University of Guam, and is pursuing a bachelor of arts degree in finance and economics. He is currently working at Louis Vuitton, when he oversees the stores daily operations.

After college, Trusso plans on moving to a location that offers a wider variety of options within the company he works for: “There is no upward mobility at my current location,” said Trusso.

In his free time Trusso likes to play sports and music, but lately with work, school and all of the preparation for these competitions, he hasn’t had much time for anything.

“Work, school and any type of physical activity is good for the mind,” said Trusso.

For the last year Trusso has been fine tuning and honing his skills to make it to the 2013 Army Reserve Best Warrior Competition. After this competition he plans on preparing soldiers in his unit for next year.

Trusso’s sponsor, Staff Sgt. Gerald Manansala, said Trusso would make an excellent Sgt. Major and inspires other soldiers to be better by setting an excellent example.

With examples like Spc. Justin Trusso, the U.S. Army Reserve would be in excellent hands for future Army Reserve soldiers.
