WASHINGTON - The United States Air Force Honor Guard performs a wide range of special honors, but one of the hardest duties is to perform is a full honors funeral. The Body Bearers element in the USAF Honor Guard is the group responsible for carrying out this difficult task.
While it certainly isn't an easy task laying someone to their final resting place, these airmen do it everyday, and sometimes more than once a day. They are apart of the United States Air Force Honor Guard Body Bearers. They essentially are the last representation of the military the deceased service members family will see to honor their fallen hero. Senior Airmen Antonio Lofton, Airmen 1st Class Christopher Lumpkin, and Airmen 1st Class Tre' Angeli share their experience of being apart of the USAF HG Body Bearers.
