    311th Expeditionary Sustainment Command

LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. – Col. Richard A. Lamb, 311th Expeditionary Sustainment Command Rear Detachment Commander, Los Angeles, Calif., lead the Partnership Zone Council July 20 at the Joint Forces Training Reserve Center in Los Alamitos, Calif.

This partnership council provides a venue to discuss, evaluate and improve retention and recruiting challenges that affect and shape the recruiting environment. More than 100 retention and career counselors, mostly from the active duty U.S. Army, filled the hall, ready to learn the new standards and guidelines.

“I think it went well. We got a lot done and put out some good information,” said Lamb. “There were some minor frustrations, but that’s why we’re here. To open the lines of communication and find solutions.’

This PZC is held twice a year. These forums were established to improve communications and synchronize recruiting efforts between supported USAR units and Army Reserve Careers Division personnel within their respective areas of operations.

“This is the total Army at work,” said Lt. Col. Johnny Oliver, Southern California Recruiting Battalion commander. “This is our opportunity to define the U.S. Army’s overall mission and set up units for success and help them fill vacancies.”

In the morning, senior leaders put out information about the changes the Army has made. After lunch, the attendees were broken down into group to discuss the best techniques to achieve the recruiting mission by synchronizing vacancies on request with actual unit needs.

Now that the Army is more technically mechanized than ever before, recruiters are now challenged to find the best recruits available. These seminars are geared towards reaching out and understanding the Army’s needs and then finding the best way to fulfill those needs.
