    NATO Special Operations Component Command-Afghanistan

NANGARHAR PROVINCE, Afghanistan- Commandos from the 1st Special Operation Kandak detained 10 persons of interest during a clearing operation in Khogyani district, Nangarhar province, July 23.

The commandos unilaterally planned and executed the operation to apprehend insurgent fighters suspected of conducting attacks against Afghan and coalition security forces in the district.

With the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan’s recent announcement of Tranche 5, Afghan National Security Forces are irreversibly taking the lead for Afghanistan’s security.

“We train very hard to ensure that we are an effective fighting force capable of providing security for our people and nation,” said Maj. Amiri, 1st SOK Executive Officer. We respect our people and try our best to demonstrate that we are here for them.”

All 10 persons of interest were transferred to the custody of the National Directorate of Security.

Afghan National Army Special Forces commandos are an elite group that conducts high-risk operations in remote areas known to be enemy strongholds. These counterinsurgency missions assist national and local police in their efforts to increase security, governance and development.

No injured civilians or structural damage was reported after this operation.
