BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan – The Republic of Korea army 924th Medical Support Group held a ceremony June 30, celebrating their treating of the 240,000th patient since they began their support of Operation Enduring Freedom more than five years ago.
ROK Col. Jan Soo Jeong, the ROK Support Group commander, as well as other coalition forces leadership attended the commemorative ceremony.
During the ceremony, the hospital commander, ROK Lt. Col. Kim Seoung KI reaffirmed their commitment to build hope in Afghanistan.
"The Korean hospital's medical support is not just an act of treating a physical disease, but the expression of love to plant a great hope and strong will in the Afghan people so that they can rebuild their country," said the hospital commander. "We hope that our sacrifice and devotion will become a seed of perpetual peace and freedom in Afghanistan.
"We will not remain satisfied with today's great achievement," he continued. "We promise that we will continue to do the best in all we do here in Bagram, Afghanistan."
The Korean hospital's primary mission is to treat and aid Afghan locals as a level one, out-patient care facility. However, the hospital staff also treats coalition forces members and BAF employees. The hospital staff of 60, including four doctors, three nurses and nine medics, treats an average of 170 to 200 patients daily.
