SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. – This week’s Third Army/USARCENT Soldier of the Week is Spc. T ‘Shane C. Williams, augmentation company logistics specialist. Williams’ is a native of Jamaica and later moved to West Palm Beach, Fla. She joined the U.S. Army Reserves in June 2007. Williams’ long-term goal is to become an Environmental Health officer for public health services.
Williams’ reserve status will play a tremendous part in affording her the opportunity to pursue her goal. The Army Reserve soldier said some of her favorite parts of being a soldier are the many career opportunities the military offers, obtaining strong leadership skills, and maintaining a physically fit lifestyle.
“My main motivation was to find guidance, gain confidence and be able to help my family as I aim to be a great inspiration and leader to others.” said Williams.
Q: What are your current military/professional goals?
A: To be an Environmental Health officer for public health services.
Q: What would you like to be doing 10 years from now?
A: I just want to be happy with my career, my life and have financial stability.
Q: Besides being a soldier, what did you want to be when you were younger?
A: A pediatrician.
Q: What is your favorite thing about being a soldier?
A: The many opportunities the military offers for careers, obtaining strong leadership skills and maintaining a physically fit lifestyle.
Q: If you were stranded on a deserted island, what three things would you want with you?
A: I would want a partner, my bible for wisdom and music because I can’t live without it.
Q: If you could spend an hour with anyone, who would it be and why?
A: God, because I have so many questions about life.
Q: Where is your favorite place to vacation?
A: My home, Jamaica.
Q: What was the best birthday gift you ever received?
A: It was a surprise party from people who barely knew me but for them to acknowledge my birthday felt great.
