MANAS TRANSIT CENTER, Kyrgyzstan – Command Sgt. Maj Scott M. Barga, the brigade command sergeant major for the 371st Sustainment Brigade and Lt. Col. Mark A. Raaker, the battalion commander for the 371st Special Troops Battalion, 371st SB visited with troops of the 371st Sus. Bde. at the Manas Transit Center, Kyrgyzstan on July 31 through August 2, 2013.
“We got a lot going on here, a lot of moving parts and the soldiers are working hard,” said Sgt. Maj. Todd Friend, the Third Army liaison noncommissioned officer with the 371st SB.
The visit included a tour of the Joint Movement Control Center (JMCC) at the transit center, where two soldiers from the brigade and a team from the 101st Human Resources Company, 371st STB, 371st Sus. Bde. are providing support and manifesting flights in and out of theater.
The tour continued with a visit of the Plate Carrier Collection Point Warehouse (PCCP), which is run by 13 soldiers from the 371st SB.
“We took over management from the contractors and have been operating full speed since then,” said 1st Lt. Evan J. Howard, a Dayton, Ohio native and the officer in charge of the PCCP Warehouse with the 371st SB.
“It was an honor to receive a visit from the unit”, said Spc. Octavius Johnson, a motor transport operator and a Cincinnati, Ohio native with the 371st SB, currently working at the PCCP Warehouse.
“The soldiers appear to be doing really well… they are engaged in their duties and well versed in what their responsibilities and duties are,” said Raaker, a Pataskala, Ohio native.
The 371st SB based out of Springfield, Ohio is currently deployed to Camp Arifjan, Kuwait in support of Enduring Freedom and has soldiers and subordinate units deployed throughout eight countries in the region.
