TRANSIT CENTER AT MANAS, Kyrgyzstan - Law enforcement and firefighters teamed up for a morale-boosting competition Sept. 6, 7, 26, and 27, called "Battle of the Badges" to build camaraderie between security forces and fire department airmen.
The four-day event comprised of volunteering at a local orphanage, firefighter and defender challenges which included a tire pull, and sparring match to name a few. The competition ended with a tie-breaking flag football game.
"It felt great to come together for the challenges," said Tech. Sgt. Erick Trusty, 376th Expeditionary Security Forces Squadron, battle noncommissioned officer, deployed out of Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas. "The defenders came through in a tough fought flag football game, 5-3 for the win."
Although the defenders won this time, according to the firefighters, the event was still a success.
"Altogether it was a great event," said Staff Sgt. John Lane, 376th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron, firefighter. "We set out to bring two careers that work hand in hand together to build camaraderie, esprit de corps, and blow off steam."
