    United States Army Alaska

HEADQUARTERS, U.S. ARMY ALASKA, FORT WAINWRIGHT, Alaska – The Noncommissioned Officer and Soldier of the Quarter were honored during the U.S. Army Alaska Noncommissioned Officer and Soldier of the Quarter Luncheon at Fort Wainwright’s Last Frontier Community Center, Oct. 16, 2013.

U.S. Army Alaska named Sgt. Ricardo Lopez III from E Company, 1st Battalion, 52nd Aviation Regiment, 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division and Spc. Maximillian VanDePool from C Company, 1st Battalion, 5th Infantry Regiment, 1-25 SBCT as this quarter’s top noncommissioned officer and enlisted member of the USARAK forces at Fort Wainwright.

Service members from each of the U.S. Army Alaska units stationed at Fort Wainwright underwent a selection board process that tested their skills proficiency, physical fitness, military bearing and leadership abilities.

One noncommissioned officer and one soldier are selected each quarter as the best among their peers. These soldiers will go on to compete against U.S. Army Pacific representatives in Hawaii. If the Alaska-based soldiers win in Hawaii, they will then compete for Noncommissioned Officer and Soldier of the Year for the entire Army.
