TWENTYNINE PALMS, Calif. - Maj. Gen. David H. Berger, Marine Corps Air Ground Task Force Training Command, Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center commanding general, presented the Combat Center with the Commander in Chief’s annual Installation Excellence Award Tuesday.
The Combat Center earned the award earlier this year and the command attended the ceremony to address the installation.
Representatives from various sections were present to receive individual awards for their efforts toward completing the Combat Center’s mission.
“This installation is unique to others,” Berger said. “The people aboard this installation have a habit of finding ways to complete tasks better than any other installation.”
The award for the year of 2012 marks the fourth consecutive year the Combat Center has earned the Installation Excellence Award.
According to the award citation, The Combat Center has demonstrated installation excellence by setting the standard for innovative combat training, energy conservation, and environmental and real estate property stewardship. Through a dynamic, rigorous and detailed information plan, the Combat Center improves the quality of life for Marines, sailors, civilians and family members. The installation raises unit morale by significantly enhancing the messing facilities, housing, and health care services. The Combat Center has also substantially reduced resource usage. These accomplishments are testament to the dedication of maintaining a model installation.
“The people on this installation put effort behind their ideas,” Berger said. “This award is an example of how magical brilliant minds can be when combined with a good work ethic.”
