BUPYEONG-GU, South Korea – Bupyeong-gu Korean American Friendship Council members assembled for its quarterly meeting in Korea to enhance ROK-U.S. relations in the Area II military community, Nov. 27.
Col. Michael. E. Masley, garrison commander of U.S. Army Garrison Yongsan, Hong Mi-young, mayor of Bupyeong-gu, and their respective staff organizations, have been good neighbors nurturing the relationship between Korea and U.S. for the past several years.
“We are a part of an alliance that is stronger today than ever before,” Masley said. “And that is because of all of you and the Bupyeong-gu KAFC.”
Masley pledged USAG Yongsan’s continued cooperation to responsibly support the vision of Bupyeong-gu while preserving the health of welfare of both communities.
“Your support to the Area II community truly is a great help that enhances our community,” Masley said. “By that support, I hope the alliance between Korea and U.S. advances in a healthy direction that will let us achieve sustainable development in the Area II community.”
Hong gave a warm welcome to the newest member of KAFC. She also asked for active cooperation of U.S. Army Garrison Yongsan, so that the Korean American Friendship Council can continue to work positively together.
“I would like to congratulate Ms. Shim Yeonki, the newly appointed superintendant for the Incheon Bukbu Office of Education,” Hong said. “I wish you to be an active member of the committee and help us in building a good neighborship between Korea and the United States.”
Both parties acknowledged they will continue working together towards the development of both nations.
