FORT BRAGG, N.C. – A 1st Theater Sustainment Command soldier died Tuesday at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, N.C.
Staff Sgt. Hector G. Serrato, 23, a native of Modesto, Calif., served as a paralegal noncommissioned officer and was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Special Troops Battalion, 1st TSC.
Serrato joined the Army in 2008. He attended basic combat training and advanced individual training at Fort Jackson, S.C. He was assigned to Fort Bragg in December 2011. Serrato served overseas in Germany and was deployed to Kuwait.
His awards and decorations include two Army Commendation Medals, three Army Achievement Medals, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, the Army Service Ribbon and two Overseas Service Ribbons.
Serrato is survived by his father, Fausto Serrato, of Modesto, Calif.
The incident is currently under investigation by Fayetteville Police Department.
