CAMP ARIFJAN, Kuwait - The 452nd Combat Support Hospital arrived in Kuwait from Milwaukee on December 17th, 2013 to take over the hospital at Camp Arifjan. After the 452nd CSH completed the transfer-of-authority with the 48TH CSH, they were ready to continue a donor pre-screening process to prepare for contingency whole blood drive operations.
The laboratory technicians from the 452nd CSH also worked hard to man a booth at a Resiliency Expo Jan. 11, 2014. They also organized with other units on Camp Arifjan to establish a donor pool of over 90 donors from Jan. 20-24.
Donor pre-screening is important in theater as the hospital carries a limited blood supply, and if a mass casualty event or major trauma were to come into the hospital the blood products would be depleted very quickly, and often a resupply will take too long to arrive.
The 452nd CSH would like to thank all of the service members and contractors who volunteered to be part of the donor pool for Camp Arifjan!
