YONGSAN GARRISON, Republic of Korea – Parents and other members of the community gathered for a Parental Advisory Council meeting at the Child, Youth and School Services School-Age Center, Jan. 29.
The meeting, which was originally for parents only, was made as a community-wide meeting by Col. Michael. E. Masley, commander of U.S. Army Garrison Yongsan.
“I wanted everyone in the community to know that our garrison is taking care of the children,” said Masley. “We discussed about the qualifications that employees working at Yongsan are going through, how the garrison is trying to prevent any issues involving children, and how we can strengthen security within our community.”
As Masley noted, the meeting focused on informing people about the garrison’s efforts to ensure safety of children. Attendees were encouraged to ask any questions, and received answers from people in charge.
“It was a good opportunity for me, since I was able to see how the garrison sorts its employees,” said Tiffany Perez, who attended the meeting. “The detailed explanation given by professionals was very beneficial. Also, it was relieving to know that there are many barriers protecting children from criminal activities or accidents.”
Parental Advisory Council meeting is held every month, at the CYSS SAC, and educates parents about CYSS and the safety of children.
