FORT BLISS, Texas - The Directorate of Mobilization and Deployment accommodated a visit from Command Sgt. Maj. William B. Zaiser, command senior enlisted leader for United States Southern Command, Feb. 2 to meet with leaders of the 342nd and 339th Military Police Companies, United States Army Reserve.
Zaiser met with Command Sgt. Maj. Ernest D. Bowen Jr., 402nd Field Artillery Brigade, First Army, and Command Sgt. Maj. Gabriel Jimenez, DoMaD, and discussed the valuable training both units received before taking over one of the nation’s toughest missions; the safe detention of the detainees in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
“I am certainly very impressed with what I saw here today,” said Zaiser. “While it will be hard to improve on this incredible product that they have here, I think I can help them out with a few things that will make their job easier and improve the product that they put out. It has been a great pleasure being involved with every professional out here.”
Zaiser expressed how the opportunity to meet with incoming leadership is sometimes complicated. By meeting with them here, Zaiser felt inspired by their true confidence.
“I feel that the units are confident and well-trained and there is no doubt in my mind that they will be successful in their mission,” said Zaiser.
“It was an incredible coincidence he was visiting [United States Army Sergeants Major Academy],” said Jimenez. “I appreciate his visit and took the time out of his busy schedule to speak to the units leaving for Cuba. The information the units received from him was invaluable and at the same time enlightening.”
The 342nd MP Company mobilized from Troy, Ohio, and the 339th MP Company mobilized from Davenport, Ill.
