Mobilization and Deployment, DPTMS Fort Bliss

FORT BLISS, Texas - Directorate of Mobilization and Deployment provided a Super Bowl experience for more than 100 mobilizing and demobilizing soldiers at Stayton Theater, Fort Bliss, Texas, Feb. 2.

Working tirelessly, Command Sgt. Maj. Gabriel Jimenez, senior enlisted adviser for DoMaD, pulled together volunteers and resources to offer free pizza and sodas to soldiers restricted to post during the demobilization process. Jimenez also sent three buses to McGregor Range, N.M., to transport mobilized soldiers from there to Stayton Theater for the event.

Starting at 3:30 p.m., soldiers made their way into the theater to enjoy the pre-game show.

Staff Sgt. Tad Lambert with the 346th Military Police Company, a mobilizing Army Reserve unit from Fort Riley, Kan., volunteered to help out. The 346th MP Company arrived at Fort Bliss to prepare for a mission in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

“I enjoyed it. I helped set it up,” said. Lambert. “There were a lot of soldiers from base who were away from home. I was rooting for the Broncos but it wasn’t much of a game, and I was shocked.”

During the game, Lambert texted with his wife, Chelsea, who was home with their three children.

“It was very nice to have a place we could all go and have food and have a chance to relax from training,” Lambert said.

First Sgt. Sidney Glanz, 344th Military Police Company, U.S. Army Reserve, also attended the festivities. The 344th MP Company is demobilizing after an eight-month tour in Afghanistan. Lambert, a Chicago Bears fan, was “hoping the Broncos would go well but that didn’t happen either.”

“We didn’t even know we were going to see the game,” said Glanz. “The pizza was phenomenal. We could eat as much as we wanted and had plenty of soda and water. The effort was outstanding on behalf of Fort Bliss.”
