PINELLAS PARK, Fla. - First Lt. Daniel "Danny" W. Burgess Jr. was promoted to the rank of captain here at the C.W. "Bill" Young Armed Forces Reserve Center, Feb. 23, 2014.
Col. Timothy G. Goblirsch, the staff judge advocate for the Army Reserve
Medical Command, assisted Burgess' mother, Beverly, and his wife, Courtney, during the promotion of Burgess to captain.
"Just pull that rank right off and toss it as far as you can," said Goblirsch to Beverly as she promoted her son to captain.
"I want to thank my family for their constant love and support," said the newly promoted captain. "It is an honor to serve, and I feel blessed to be a part of such an amazing team here at ARMEDCOM."
Burgess' wife, Courtney, a native of Lithia, placed the captain rank on his Army combat uniform patrol cap during the promotion. Also, attending the promotion celebration was their 6-week infant daughter, Adeline.
Burgess, was born and raised in Zephyrhills. He earned his juris doctorate degree from the Barry Law School in Orlando, Fla., and currently is the mayor of Zephyrhills.
