    I Marine Expeditionary Force

CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. - Marines from I Marine Expeditionary Force Headquarters Group and I MEF participated in moral reawakening training the last week of February aboard Camp Pendleton, Calif., per the order of Gen. James F. Amos, commandant of the Marine Corps.

The program engages participants in an interactive and educational process to identify and integrate internal resources necessary to meet the psychological demands on military members and their families.

Cpl. Abigail Krause, motor transport operator, I MHG, said right thinking leads to right actions, a big focus of the classes.

As an instructor of the daylong class, Krause said the Marines/Sailors taught her just as much as she taught them.

“I learned that everyone perceives stress differently,” said Krause. “One Marine/Sailor may have one of the most stressful moments of their lives being a torn ACL and the next Marine/Sailor may have being blown up in Afghanistan as their most stressful. It was interesting for me to see how they voiced the same amount of stress and how it affected them was similar in both cases.”

Sgt. Billy Delbert, heavy equipment chief with I MHG volunteered to instruct the course.

“I feel the Marine Corps is headed towards realignment of what is already known and required, but complacency is getting weeded out,” Delbert said.

During the training, Delbert and the other instructors told the Marines to write down their thoughts, values, goals and failures.

“This in turn allowed them to discuss and evaluate the shortcomings or strengths,” Delbert said. “I was able to visually see my strengths and short comings as well.”

The Marine Corps continues to address pertinent, vital issues such as morality, sexual assault and suicide training to all of its members to ensure the Corps upholds the highest standards.
