YOKOSUKA, Japan - Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy Mike Stevens spent two days at Yokosuka naval base during a two week fleet engagement trip to the pacific region.
during his visit the MCPON spent time talking with junior sailors about future pay and uniform changes during an all hands call at Yokosuka’s Benny Decker theater. Stevens also revealed technology advancements like iPad and email usage for new sailors during their basic training.
the MCPON said that hearing from sailors and their families and having instant access to their thoughts and opinions on how that navy is doing was the most important part of his visit to the base.
Stevens shared that if sailors work hard, stay out of trouble and remain good and decent they will be successful. he also said that taking ownership of what we own with a positive attitude and energy enhances his foundations for success.
The MCPON spent his last day in Yokosuka checking up on the quality of life for sailors at Yokosuka touring the newly built UNACCOMPANIED barracks and the base galley. before departing the base, Stevens sat down WITH the master chief petty officer of the JAPAN MARITIME defense force and discussed various topics relevant to both parties
the MCPON said that the sailors in japan across the board provide and show the navy and nation outstanding service keeping with the proud tradition of the forward deployed forces.
