JOINT BASE LEWIS-McCHORD, Wash. – In a departure from training by slide presentation, the 7th Infantry Division Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention program held a skeet and trap shooting event to bring awareness to Sexual Assault Awareness Month, April 25.
Soldiers and family members gathered at the JBLM Shotgun Range for the unique event.
“The idea is to have fun shooting, meet the 7th ID SHARP personnel, and understand that SHARP doesn’t have to be a PowerPoint event,” said Capt. Katie Fichtner, 7th Inf. Div. SHARP Office.
Throughout April, 7th Inf. Div. efforts in the fight against sexual assault will include hosting a sexual assault awareness run, Apr. 29. The intent is to educate leaders, Soldiers, and Department of Defense civilians and to encourage intervention to stop sexual assault before it happens.
