KABUL, Afghanistan - Troops from the XVIII Airborne Corps currently serving overseas at the New Kabul Compound, received the visit of country music star Craig Morgan May 6, as part of the singer’s most recent tour to visit deployed service members.
“I know you all and know the things that you do to ensure the life we live. I really appreciate your sacrifice and the sacrifices of your families,” said Morgan during his visit.
Morgan, who served in the U.S. Army for 19 years, performed several songs to entertain the men and women stationed at the Kabul compound in support to Operation Enduring Freedom.
“Craig Morgan has a special affinity with the men and women of the XVIII Airborne Corps, particularly because of his past service in the 82nd Airborne Division and that paratrooper lineage and linkage. It is always great to see troops smiling, doing something different or special in Afghanistan,” said U.S. Army Col. Douglas F. Stitt, XVIII Airborne Corps and U.S. Armed Forces-Afghanistan human resources director.
The visit to NKC, which is part of Morgan’s 11th overseas music tour, represents a huge boost of morale for the deployed service members.
The XVIII Airborne Corps troops deployed to Afghanistan are engaged on critical aspects of the current operations and are having a substantial impact in the successful transition presently undergoing in Afghanistan.
