RALEIGH, N.C. – Soldiers from the 210th Military Police Company, 105th Military Police Battalion and 130th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade were welcomed home with a ceremony held in their honor at Lake Junaluska Conference and Retreat Center near Asheville, N.C. May 16, 2014.

The detachment of 30 Soldiers from the 201th MP Co. recently returned home from a nine-month deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. While there they operated as the Provost Marshals office for Bagram Airfield, the largest U.S. military base in Afghanistan.

Capt. Jim Rossi, the detachment commander, said he was proud of his Soldiers’ performance while deployed.

“These 30 Soldiers from North Carolina were the law and order and security for the largest base in Afghanistan,” Rossi said. “They all did an outstanding job. We were not supposed to take over that mission, we were just supposed to supplement the 45 person detachment already doing the mission.”

Members of the 210 MP Co. took over the mission instead of supplementing it and they were able to successfully complete their mission with fewer Soldiers than previously assigned the same task.

The 210th previously deployed in support of Operation Desert Shield, Desert Storm in 1990 and in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2013.

The Detachment of Soldiers started the Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program the day following the ceremony where the Guardsmen will start the process of reintegrating back into their communities and learn about the programs available to them as returning veterans.
