SAINTE-MÈRE-ÉGLISE, France - Hundreds of U.S. service members from around the world have been invited by the French government to commemorate the 70th Anniversary of D-Day. Events are scheduled for June 3-8.
Tech. Sgt. Burt Traynor is in Normandy to cover the unique stories of those involved with the 70th Anniversary of D-Day.
“My favorite part of being here is the great presence of the community and, to be able to experience the atmosphere with the reenactors and the reenactment camps,” said Traynor.
The Niceville, Florida native has servied in the U.S. Air Force for 12 years and is currently stationed at the Regional Media Center, American Forces Network Europe in Sembach, Germany.
“It’s been an honor to be part of this special anniversary,” said Traynor. “It’s been truly an experience to see the overwhelming support and respect from the French towards veterans and those who paid the ultimate sacrifice 70 years ago.”
