FORT DRUM. N.Y. - Soldiers assigned to 2nd Battalion, 15th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (LI), alongside Family members, friends and distinguished guests bid farewell to Lt. Col. Christopher W. Wendland and welcomed Lt. Col. Kevin L. Jackson during a Change of Command ceremony June 6 at the Magrath Sports Complex Field.

2-15th FA's history dates back to WW1 and was officially established in June 1, 1917 in Syracuse, N.Y. Nearly 70 years ago today during WWII they stormed the beaches of Omaha on D-Day+1.

Upholding the rich history and traditions of the "Allons" battalion has been Lt. Col. Wendland who commanded the battalion during their most recent deployment to Paktika province, Afghanistan.

In his closing remarks Wendland recognized those in attendance for their support, mentorship and positive influences, reassuring Lt. Col. Jackson, a native of Chicago, that the Soldiers before him will not fail.

"The men and women before you will never fail, the fabric of 'Allons' is made up to too many incredible leaders and Soldiers to ever not surpass all expectations."
