RUKLA, Lithuania – Paratroopers of the 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade, held a promotion and awards ceremony June 6 during their participation in training exercises in Lithuania.
The paratroopers recognized the hard work and dedication of five of their own by promoting them to the Army ranks of sergeant and specialist.
“I feel really lucky to be where I’m, from my team leader all the way to the top,” said Spc. Michael Kennedy, M240 assistant gunner, 173rd Airborne Brigade.
Following the promotions, the 173rd awarded two Michigan Army National Guard Soldiers with the Army Achievement Medal for public affairs support they provided during their time with the brigade.
The paratroopers are conducting airborne and infantry training exercises with Lithuanian, Danish and Polish forces throughout the Baltic region.
Many of the 173rd “Sky Soldiers” earned their Lithuanian foreign jump wings after conducting airborne jumps with their NATO allies.
The intent of the training between forces is to increase NATO interoperability and strengthen relations among NATO allied forces.
