ATLANTA - Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) founder and CEO, Paul Rieckhoff came to Atlanta on Tuesday, June 17th to connect with area service members and vets. He did so by way of a luncheon he hosted at the Park Bar in the heart of downtown Atlanta. The prime location served as the meeting place for veterans, service members, family, and care givers who were invited to hear encouraging words from dynamic speakers.
People in attendance came from nearby and as far away as Tallahassee, Fl. IAVA guests were treated to any meal of their choosing on the Park Bar menu. Shortly after food was served, Rieckhoff addressed members, guests, and local media about what his organization has done and is doing to champion the causes pertaining to veterans.
“Our mission is to connect and empower veterans. And there’s no better place to do it than Atlanta. Atlanta is a hotbed of innovation for veterans. It’s got a great military history, and it’s a really critical city that shaped the national discussion on veterans,” said Rieckhoff.
When speaking of the reach and impact the IAVA has on the local Atlanta area, he stated, “We have almost ten thousand (IAVA) members across the state (of Georgia). Atlanta is one of our top markets for IAVA members.”
He wholeheartedly believes the accomplishments of his organization are tangibly benefiting the country. He said, “We believe firmly that veterans are not a charity, they’re an investment. “We invite everybody to be a part of IAVA, and help us build this new movement.”
